about
The Decade Papers series presents a curated archive of Fidel Castro's political life in motion—collecting speeches, statements, interviews, and public interventions as they were delivered, recorded, and circulated within their historical moment. Organized by decade, each volume assembles a body of primary documents that trace the development of strategy, leadership, and revolutionary practice over time. These are working texts—documents produced in the midst of struggle, decision-making, and transformation. In the case of Fidel Castro, these documents reveal a figure who cannot be reduced to a single role. Castro emerges here as a political thinker whose ideas were forged in real time—through confrontation, governance, crisis, and survival. His words function as a form of applied theory, where questions of sovereignty, development, imperialism, and mass participation are worked out publicly and under pressure. Read across decades, these texts chart the evolution of a project: from insurgency to state formation, from consolidation to endurance, offering a rare, sustained view into the practice of revolutionary leadership in the modern world.
